All attention would be tilted towards Brazil tomorrow as the 2014 World officially takes off with the hosts taking on Croatia in Group A including Mexico and Cameroon.
The indomitable Lions of Cameroon who have finally arrived Brazil after a delay flight resulting from dispute over match bonuses would play Mexico on Friday.
As fans back in Cameroon mobilise for this first match, especially after the Lions recently held Germany 2 -2 in a friendly, many football fans in Scotland have chosen to support Cameroon.
A well-liked Radio Station, Forth FM based in Edinburgh has been persuading its mass audiences to cheer the Indomitable Lions.
With Scotland conspicuously absent in this year’s World, Forth FM’s two radio presenters, Boogie and Arlene Stuart decided to make a fair draw involving all the participating countries.
According to Boogie and Arlene, the decision taken was that the country randomly picked, was going to be the team for its radio listeners.
Conducting the draw live during “Boogie in the Morning”, a popular talk-show in the morning, Cameroon emerged from the random pick as the fortune team for the football fans in Scotland.
More than a week since the draw was made; the two animating presenters have not spared a day to woo fans for the Indomitable Lions with the countdown to the event in South America.
Support Cameroon to England
England is the only team to fly the flag of Team GB at the tournament, however, most football fans in Scotland, are not keen to support the English side or wish they could put up a brilliant show at all.
The choice of choosing the Indomitable Lions might look more as surprise, however, most people in Scotland, were fans of Roger Miller who took Cameroon to the quarters finals before they lost to England in Italia’90.
How far Cameroon would go in Brazil seems not to be the worries at the moment as many of the fans still hold it that by qualifying for the World Cup, Cameroon deserves the honour than the countries that never had the chance to be there.
Scotland supporters just as Chelsea fans would be delighted to watch Samuel Eto’o, team captain, who had just had an impressive first season playing for the London team in the Premier League.
